This appears to be the most interesting & accurate complete detailed account of what actually happened that has been published to date. The author updated information as much as possible until published in 2015. It was interesting that the author also included information he obtained on things like animal habits in the wild when happening upon humans; military personnel & equipment use, search & rescue methods and law enforcement investigative methods to some degree. Also, discussed is the way the media affects the searches as well as the lives of those involved. One wonders how much the personal feelings of FBI investigators & other searchers & cost of the entire search affected the outcome. It makes one aware of all the dangers that exist when on outings that you might never realize exist. Definately gives insight on safety during family outings though not actually discussed. It offers insight as to how easily a child or adult can disappear without a trace very quickly. Very sad for the family that there was no closure. Well worth reading if interested.
I've been interested in this case ever since I read about it in David Paulides's book. The author gives additional details that I wasn't aware of. Great read if you like stories about missing people in the Great Smoky Mountains. The book could use a bit of editing here and there but otherwise very informative.
This is such a sad case with many very strange events which took place during and immediately followed the disappearance of this young boy. I originally read about this case in a Missing 411 book and wanted to know more about what really happened. This is a very sad case with an unknown outcome.
I don't expect Amazon to be responsible for the content of a book. (this one was full of factual errors)But the formatting was absolutely horrible. Chapter titles appear on two or more lines. There are many more pages than there are page numbers.Amazon should send manuscripts back to the author if they aren't formatted to be read easily.
This was poorly written, with grammatical errors, which drives me bonkers. The story was very hard to follow and did not flow smoothly. Parts of it appeared to have been taken off a police or ranger report, as it was written in a "professional searcher" type person, with first and last names throughout, times written in military style, etc. Could have been done to be much more interesting.
This is a very in depth book regarding the case of Dennis Martin. For how small the book is, it gives almost every ounce of known information about the case. What's suprising to me is that I live fairly close to the area that the boy disappeared from, roughly an hour away and have been in the same area and trails that are mentioned in this book.
I haven't finished it, but it is very distracting that the author misspells many words, uses confusing or not enough punctuation. It makes it feel like a shoddy job, rushed and not well proofed, so makes me suspect the quality of the research that went into it is similarly bad.
It seems there was no editing of the book at all and the typos are horrible.
